Rebecca Beckman

Hello!  My name is Rebecca Beckman, but most people know me as 'Nurse Becky'.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from UNMC (University of Nebraska Medical Center) in May 1996.  I worked in a rural hospital doing a little bit of everything for 5 years.  This was a great way to continue learning about a lot of things right out of nursing school.  I took care of any patient ranging in age from newborn to 104 years old that required a stay in the hospital for surgery (joint replacements, appendectomy, gallbladder removal, bowel resections, etc.), labor & delivery, heart attack, stroke, cancer, pneumonia, toddlers with RSV, etc.  I was also on the code team and would have to run to code blue (cardiac or respiratory arrest) situations.  Then I worked in larger hospitals and specialized in labor & delivery and NICU for about 13 years.  I was even lucky enough to deliver several babies when the doctor didn't make it in time.  I worked in an outpatient IVF clinic for almost 2 years.  I also worked in a cardiology clinic doing nuclear stress tests, interrogating pacemakers and defibrillators, and scrubbing in to help the cardiologist with heart catheterizations.  My husband was in the Navy for 31 years so we moved a lot, but he is originally from Montana and couldn't wait to get back to this beautiful state!!  I had never even thought about being a school nurse until we decided that we wanted to live in Thompson Falls on the river.  I really enjoy all of the kids and the sweet, funny, craziness they bring each day.  I've been at the school since October 2020 and have only lost a few patients during that time......fish in the fish tank are my responsibility too.
