Literacy Corner

In February 2025 a committee of educators, along with community members, worked to complete an extensive grant application, applying for a K-12 Literacy Grant through the state of Montana.  The grant was written to allow us to develop a new literacy program aimed at helping all students develop greater literacy skills through intensive interventions, professional development for staff, and community partnerships.  In November of 2025 we learned we had been awarded a $1.13 Million grant to support literacy over the next four years.  So far the grant has allowed us to initiate Science of Reading training for all staff, which will be ongoing.  In addition, we have hired Lindsey Franklin as our district Literacy Coach.  Jodi Hershberger and Laura Donaldson have been hired as Early Literacy Paraprofessionals.  We held a well attended Family Literacy Night in January.  This is just the beginning!  Stay tuned and return to this page often, for parent resources and grant updates.
