At the January 2023 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees for Thompson Falls Public Schools it was decided to start the process of a new Long-Range Plan for the district. Superintendent Bud Scully explained that the District needed to develop a Long-Range Plan that the Office of Public Instruction requires and is often referred to as a Strategic Plan. The Board wanted input from community members, parents, staff, and students. Superintendent Scully suggested a public meeting that would allow participants to put their ideas on paper and to also allow participants to see what ideas others had by moving around the room to various tables where they could add to those ideas. The meeting was held at the High School, located at 601 Golf Street, in the Library on January 23, 2023 at 6:00 pm. Vice-Chairman Ryan Frields said that it was important that all of the Board members be present for this process as they would be tasked with making the final decision. The Board is looking to get ideas that can be implemented with Goals of a 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 20-year timeline. Superintendent Scully compiled all of the ideas and put them into a survey that was then sent to staff, students, and parents along with a link to the survey which was posted on the district website so that community members could have additional input before the Board made any final decisions on the Plan. The results from the survey can be found below.
